A Breath of Encouragement

Some people have a way of making a room feel comfortable the moment they begin to speak.

Without formally introducing himself, Dr. Bayard DuBois walked to the front of the stage, gave the audience a gentle wave, and offered a warm invitation to relax and enjoy the afternoon. His confidence, humor, and genuine kindness immediately drew the room into the presentation.

For 26 years, Dr. DuBois has served as director of the Seattle Breath of Aire Choir. Throughout the program, he introduced choir members, shared brief stories, involved the audience, and kept the attention focused on the greater purpose behind the music.

The talent of the choir quickly took everyone by surprise. Early in the program, the audience was invited to stand and sing along. Lyrics were provided, smiles spread throughout the room, and what began as a concert became a shared experience of joy, worship, and Christian fellowship.

The choir travels throughout the Pacific Northwest, using music to support Christian organizations and ministries. Their songs center on the hope, peace, joy, grace, and faithfulness of God.

Under Dr. DuBois’ leadership, the afternoon flowed effortlessly. Every transition, introduction, story, and song reflected the experience of a seasoned team committed to serving others through music.

Music became a bridge—bringing different generations together and focusing every heart on the mercy and grace of God.

During the event on April 19, 2026, Transform Northwest announced Jacob Daugherty as its new Director. Jacob spoke about strengthening unity within the Church and helping churches and organizations work together throughout Clark County.

Transform Northwest President Dr. David Slamp also shared the organization’s vision and the impact it hopes to make through Gospel-centered partnerships. Pastor Deb Weisen and her husband helped welcome those in attendance, presented gifts, and thanked everyone who continues to support the work of Transform Northwest.

After the intermission, the choir did not return to the stage in the usual way. Members entered from both sides of the room and stood among the audience. Even without microphones, their voices filled the space with rich harmony.

The moment was powerful. The audience was no longer simply watching a performance; everyone had become part of an experience that pointed beyond the music itself.

To close the afternoon, Dr. DuBois welcomed former choir members from the audience to join the group on stage. The final number brought together the strength of the current choir, the experience of its alumni, and the professionalism of the musicians.

After the concert, Dr. DuBois remained to greet attendees personally. His willingness to stay, speak with people, shake hands, and offer encouragement reflected the same servant-hearted leadership he had demonstrated throughout the program.
